Wikki Tourists Football Club’s management board has been dissolved by the Bauchi State Government with immediate effect, following the club’s poor 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League campaign, which ended in relegation to the Nigeria National League.

A statement from Mukhtar Gidado, special adviser on media and publicity to Governor Bala Mohammed, said the governor approved the dissolution after a thorough review of the club’s performance last season, weighed against the various interventions the government had made to try to preserve the club’s top flight status.

Alhaji Haruna Bako, a former Bauchi State director of sports, has been appointed interim sole administrator of the club, replacing Salmanu Abubakar, the former chairman of Wikki Tourists FC.

The government statement said the decision reflects an effort to reposition the club, restore public confidence in its management, and lay a solid foundation for an immediate return to the top flight. Bako has been tasked with immediately assuming responsibility for the club’s administration, overseeing the handover of all operations, assets, records, and liabilities, and initiating measures aimed at improving the club’s fortunes ahead of the coming Nigeria National League season.
