Nasarawa United’s management say the Solid Miners are ready to fight for a continental place in the 2026/27 NPFL season. As reported by FootballInNigeria.com.ng, club communications director Eche Amos spoke about the team’s ambitions in an interview with Arise News in Lafia.
Amos said the club wants to put past setbacks behind it and challenge at the top of the table. “We have what it takes,” he said.
He praised Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule for his steady financial, moral and administrative support. He added that a summer recruitment drive has started to deliver results.
Last Season’s Near Miss
The Solid Miners finished sixth last season with 56 points, four points short of a continental place. That miss has pushed the club’s hierarchy into a round of strategic discussions about what to do next.
Chairman Solomon Babanja is leading the plan together with his board, according to Amos. The aim is to build on that sixth-place finish and sustain any success once it arrives.

Away Days Remain The Problem
Amos admitted the early away results have been tough. He said the team lost its away games this season, while its home form has been better, with some wins and some draws.
He insisted the performances were better than the results suggest, pointing to ball possession and the team’s character. He believes the side can win away from home too.
The league table backs up some of that optimism. Nasarawa United are 11th on 11 points from eight games, up from 16th after a 2-1 defeat at Kwara United on Matchday 5.

A Recent Turnaround
Coach Mangut Mbwas admitted the slow start was worrying after that Kwara loss. Since then, results have improved, and the Miners beat Doma United 2-0 in Lafia on Matchday 8 to stretch their unbeaten run to three matches.
Sunday Dapman scored in the 10th minute, and Jofrank Istifanus added a penalty in the 55th. Amos also spoke of a title challenge, but with 11 points from eight games, a continental place looks like the more realistic target.

The Miners face Inter Lagos at the Onikan Stadium on October 18, with kick-off listed for 16:00. Away form is the issue Amos highlighted, so Lagos is a good chance to answer it.
