Sevilla head coach Luis Garcia Plaza has confirmed that Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke remains an important part of his plans, describing him as an impactful option who brings unpredictability and dribbling to the team’s attack.
Ejuke came close to leaving Sevilla over the summer and was left out of parts of pre-season amid transfer interest, but stayed on after prospective moves fell through. Garcia Plaza has since reintegrated the winger into the squad, pointing to his positive response on the pitch, including a goal against Athletic Bilbao and a series of impressive cameo appearances.
“I’ve Used Him A Lot Since I Arrived”
Speaking to Futbol Fantasy, Garcia Plaza said he sees more in Ejuke and has used him regularly since taking charge, noting that the winger had gone long stretches without starting before his arrival but has now featured in all three league matches under him. He explained that a recent decision to leave Ejuke out came down to a late change in game plan rather than any lack of faith, saying the coaching staff felt Julio Diaz better suited how the match had been prepared. He added that the alternative approach ultimately didn’t work out as hoped, but stressed that he genuinely rates Ejuke and continues to see him as someone who can play a central role for the team.
