NFF acting general secretary Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme has urged the Falconets to maintain their winning mentality when they face Korea Republic in their final warm-up match ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Falconets head into Tuesday’s friendly at the Remes Sports Leisure and Spa Stadium on the back of a 1-0 win over hosts Poland at the Municipal Stadium in Brzeg last Friday, with Mary Mamudu scoring the decisive goal in first half stoppage time.
“Go For Outright Victory”
Speaking to the NFF’s official website, Ikpeme praised the players for holding their own and eventually beating Poland, saying the federation and the entire Nigerian nation were proud of the performance. He said the win had instilled a winning mentality in the squad, and that another victory over Korea Republic would help sustain that mindset heading into the group stage of the World Cup, urging the team to go for outright victory in the fixture.
A Group Stage Test Ahead
Nigeria have been drawn in Group F of the tournament alongside Spain, China PR and Paraguay. The Falconets open their campaign against Spain on Monday, 7 September, before facing China PR three days later and rounding off the group stage against Paraguay on 13 September.
