Plateau United technical adviser Gbenga Ogunbote has reflected on his side’s 2-0 away defeat to Rivers United in the opening game of the 2026/27 NPFL season.
The Peace Boys suffered the loss at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday, with Abdulrasheed Dabai and Wasiu Falolu scoring for the hosts.
“We Made Corrections”
Ogunbote admitted that Plateau United’s slow start to the contest proved costly, telling the club’s media that the team didn’t get things right in the first half but made corrections that led to improvement. He said his side played a more balanced game after the break, though the pitch conditions didn’t allow for free-flowing football, and acknowledged that the team’s reactions had been a little slow and poor overall.

Ogunbote said the result was already behind them and that the team would take the positives from the performance into their next fixture, with Plateau United hoping to bounce back quickly on Matchday Two.
