Aston Villa Women have completed the signing of Super Falcons defender Rofiat Imuran on a permanent deal from London City Lionesses.
Imuran becomes Villa’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window as the club continues strengthening its squad ahead of the new season. The 22 year old left back joins Natalia Arroyo’s side after two years developing her game in English football.
A Career Built Across Two Countries
Imuran began her professional career in France with Stade de Reims, where she made 27 league appearances and scored seven goals across two seasons. She moved to London City Lionesses in 2024, before completing this switch to Aston Villa.
An Established Super Falcons International
At international level, Imuran has represented Nigeria at major tournaments, including the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and was also part of the Super Falcons squad at this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
“A Big Club With Big Ambitions”
Speaking after completing her move, Imuran said she was very excited to be at Villa and eager to achieve a lot of things there, describing the club as one with a lot of history and big ambitions that she wanted to be part of. Villa’s Director of Women’s Football, Marisa Ewers, said Imuran already had good experience in English football and at international level, and that she was expected to bring pace, energy and quality to the club’s defensive options. Ewers added that Villa were keen to build stronger connections across Africa and continue identifying talent from the continent, describing Imuran’s arrival as a positive step in that direction.
