Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye conceded twice while making three saves as Udinese secured a dramatic 3-2 away win over Monza in Saturday’s Serie A clash.
Okoye let in goals from Andrea Colpani and Gustavo Varela, but produced a vital performance between the posts to help Udinese resist a fierce second half comeback and hold on for all three points. His fellow Nigerian, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, came on as a second half substitute for Monza in the 54th minute and had a decent game for the hosts.
A Five-Goal Thriller
Udinese took the lead against the run of play after a midfield giveaway saw several attempts charged down before Jakub Piotrowski was given time and space to sweep the ball in from 12 yards. Monza responded through Colpani, who sprung the offside trap from a well weighted pass and finished coolly one on one with Okoye. The hosts then conceded twice in first-half stoppage time to fall further behind before pulling one back through Varela’s header, but ultimately could not complete the comeback as Udinese held on for the win.
