Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq was on target for Valencia, but two own goals helped Deportivo La Coruna to a 3-1 win in Sunday’s La Liga clash.

Sadiq, making his third appearance for Valencia, put in a strong individual performance despite the result. Deportivo took an early lead in the 13th minute when Cesar Tarrega turned the ball into his own net from a corner, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the hosts’ advantage four minutes later, sprinting onto a Mario Soriano pass and finishing left footed on the break.

Sadiq Halves The Deficit

Valencia found a route back into the match in the 26th minute when Sadiq tucked away a close-range, right footed finish, sending the visitors in at half time trailing 2-1 but still in the contest.

Deportivo restored their two-goal cushion shortly after the restart, another own goal, this time from Mouctar Diakhaby in the 59th minute, following sustained pressure inside the box. From there, the hosts controlled the closing stages and saw out the win.
