Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey played all 90 minutes as Fulham lost 1-0 to Sunderland in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light.
Both players were making their second appearance of the new season, with Fulham, now under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa, still searching for their first win after two league matches.
A Cagey Contest Settled Late
The first half offered little quality from either side, with both teams guilty of wasting good positions through poor final balls or a lack of composure in front of goal. Fulham’s best moment came when Josh King was played in by Iwobi, but the chance came to nothing, and it remained the closest either side came to a clear opening for much of the match.
The deadlock was eventually broken in the 75th minute, when substitute Wilson Isidor netted the only goal of the game to hand Sunderland all three points. Fulham could not find a way back into the contest, failing to register a single shot on target across the full 90 minutes.
