Barau FC general manager Dominic Iorfa has praised his players for their resilience after they held Kun Khalifat FC to a goalless draw in a matchday two clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, a result made all the more notable given what the squad went through just hours before kick-off.

A Frightening Bus Scare

The Barau FC delegation flew into Owerri on Saturday, but the journey from the airport to their hotel turned tense when the team bus reportedly developed a fault and swerved across the road. Iorfa, a former Queens Park Rangers forward, said several players picked up minor injuries in the incident but the club chose not to make a big deal of it, and most of those affected still turned out for the match, carrying knocks but determined to play.

Iorfa Credits Fortune And Fight

Reflecting on the game itself, the former Lobi Stars boss pointed to three goal line clearances by his defenders as a sign that luck played its part alongside the team’s effort, noting that quality alone doesn’t always decide a match and that fortune was on Barau FC’s side this time.

Late Chance Goes Begging

Barau FC came close to snatching all three points late on when winger Al Ameen Umar, formerly of El-Kanemi Warriors and Telecom Egypt, fired narrowly over the bar with the goal at his mercy. Iorfa was satisfied regardless, calling the point a fair outcome given the circumstances.
