Alex Iwobi’s afternoon carried personal significance even as Fulham slipped to defeat. The Super Eagles midfielder made his 100th Premier League appearance for the club during Saturday’s 3-2 loss to Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage.
A Rare Club Treble
The appearance moved Iwobi into select company. He becomes only the fifth player in Premier League history to make at least 100 appearances for three different clubs, joining Gary Speed, Rory Delap, Gareth Barry and James Milner on that list.
Iwobi built the first leg of that milestone at Arsenal, where he came through the academy and made 100 league appearances before a move to Everton in 2019. He went on to make 123 Premier League appearances on Merseyside before joining Fulham in 2023, where he has since become a regular fixture in the first team.
Milestone Overshadowed By Result
The occasion was tempered by the result. Fulham could not find enough answers to keep pace with a Crystal Palace side that ran out 3-2 winners on the day, leaving Iwobi’s landmark as one of the few positives for the home crowd.
At 30, Iwobi continues to be a key figure both for Fulham and for the Super Eagles, and reaching three separate century marks in England’s top flight underlines the consistency he has shown since breaking into the Arsenal side as a teenager.
