Enyimba forward Wonah William has blamed missed goalscoring opportunities for his side’s disappointing 0-0 draw against Warri Wolves in Aba. The People’s Elephant were held by the Seasiders at the Enyimba International Stadium on Sunday.

The nine time NPFL champions have now won only two of their first nine matches this season. The draw leaves them on eight points from nine games, up from seven after eight. Fans following the NPFL can read the Bet9ja promotion code essentials before the next round.

William admitted that the team performed well overall, but said their failure in the final third proved costly. “We failed to convert our chances,” he said after the game.

Warri Wolves defended in numbers, with their captain, David Joseph, saying the Seasiders’ plan was to stay compact in the first half and then hit on the counter after the break.

Enyimba have had a bumpy campaign. They won back-to-back games, beating Shooting Stars 4-2 and Plateau United 2-0, before losing 4-2 at Katsina United on Matchday 8. It was the first time they had conceded four league goals in a game since January 2020.

That defeat was Enyimba’s fifth of the campaign, and it left them 17th on seven points before Sunday’s stalemate. NPFL fans can try Super9ja weekly predictions alongside the fixtures.

Enyimba now travel to Nasarawa United in Lafia on Sunday, October 25, with kickoff at 4pm. William said the squad would work on its shortcomings in training and believes it can get a positive result.

Nasarawa will be confident, having won 2-0 at Inter Lagos on Sunday for the biggest away win in the club’s history. They are on 14 points from nine matches.

Enyimba have the pedigree, but pedigree doesn’t win games. Missing chances at home against a side that defended deep is a problem, and it must be fixed quickly if the nine time champions want to climb the table.

Supporters planning to back Enyimba can claim Bet9ja’s YOHAIG offer for new players before Sunday’s trip to Lafia.
