Done Deal: Arokodare Joins Ajax on Loan
The Dutch giants will cover the striker’s full wage package for the season, with an €18 million option to make the move permanent next summer.

Tolu Arokodare has completed a loan move to Dutch giants Ajax from Wolverhampton Wanderers, closing the book on a saga that had included a training-ground standoff and interest from several European clubs.
Ajax reportedly secured an option to make the move permanent for €18 million, and under the terms of the agreement, the former European champions will shoulder the striker’s entire wage package for the season. Confirming the move on their official website, Ajax said the deal runs until the summer of 2027 and includes an option to buy.
Arokodare, who joined Wolves from Belgian Pro League side Genk last summer, had previously been linked with Serie A clubs Fiorentina and Genoa before the move to Amsterdam materialised.
Ajax technical director Jordi Cruijff welcomed the signing, saying the club is bringing in a striker profile it didn’t previously have in the squad, and expressed confidence Arokodare will make an important contribution to the team next season.
Arokodare’s route to Europe’s elite began in 2019 with Latvian side Valmiera FC, before spells at German club FC Koln and French side Amiens SC. He moved to Genk in the winter of 2023 and went on to finish as top scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League during the 2024/25 season, form that earned him his move to Wolves.
