Super Eagles striker Rafiu Durosinmi was on target for the second consecutive match as Genk came from two goals down to beat Westerlo 3-2 in the Belgian Pro League on Saturday night, Complete Sports reports.
Westerlo took an early lead through Dylan Ourega in the seventh minute before a Matte Smets own goal doubled the visitors’ advantage four minutes later, leaving the Belgian Pro League champions facing an uphill task at home.
Durosinmi Sparks The Comeback
Genk hit back before the break. Durosinmi converted from the penalty spot three minutes from half-time to halve the deficit, before Bryan Heynen levelled the score at 2-2 in first half stoppage time. Durosinmi was replaced by Aaron Bibout in the 66th minute, and it was his replacement who delivered the decisive moment, scoring the winner 11 minutes from time to complete Genk’s comeback.
A Fast Start To Life In Belgium
Durosinmi joined Genk from Italian club Pisa this summer in a deal worth around €10.5 million, becoming the 14th Nigerian player to sign for the Belgian club and the latest in a line of Super Eagles forwards, following Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare, to wear the Genk shirt. He scored on his competitive debut for the club, heading in against Zulte Waregem in a losing effort, and has now found the net in back to back matches to open his Belgian Pro League account in style.
The move to Genk followed a difficult half season at Pisa, where Durosinmi managed just one goal in 12 Serie A appearances as the Italian club finished bottom of the table and suffered relegation to Serie B. He has since spoken openly about how tough that spell was, while crediting his faith for helping him push through it.
