NFF to Wrap Up Next Phase of CAF B Coaching Course This Weekend

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is poised to conclude another phase of its CAF B license coaching course over the upcoming weekend, sources indicate.

The programme, an integral part of the NFF’s ongoing coach development strategy, aims to elevate coaching standards across the country. It follows earlier phases which have already seen coaches going through modules covering tactical, technical, and administrative aspects of modern coaching.

Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen has overseen the initiative, emphasising that participants must meet certain criteria—including possession of the CAF C license and requisite experience to be eligible.

Those enrolled are expected to complete assessments and coursework during the weekend session, after which they will be evaluated for advancement to subsequent modules or certification.

The NFF sees the course as a long‑term investment in Nigerian football preparing a cadre of well‑trained coaches capable of competing domestically and abroad, and helping improve performances from grassroots to professional levels.

To make this successful, the course must be more than a formality. Assessments should be rigorous, feedback honest, and follow-up support mentoring, refresher modules, practice forums must be provided. Coaches trained today should carry that knowledge into clubs large and small, ensuring that each tier of football benefits.

Transparency should accompany the process: publish who qualifies, share results, allow independent oversight, and invite stakeholders to witness that standards are upheld. If these courses are mere optics, they will be rejected by coaches on the ground. But if real, they become vehicles for transformation.

We must press on, support those enrolled, and demand that excellence, not legacy or politics, be the yardstick. If we persist with this conviction, Nigeria will produce coaches who don’t merely manage teams, but build legacies of growth, competence and respect.
