Nigeria’s Super Falcons have dropped seven places in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking, falling from 36th to 43rd. The rankings were released on Tuesday morning.

Nigeria lost 83.54 ranking points, the biggest loss of any nation in the October update. Even so, the 10 time African champions remain the highest ranked women’s team on the continent. Fans of Nigerian football can check the Bet9ja sign-up bonus page for new users.

The drop follows a poor run of results. The Super Falcons went out in the quarter finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with defeats against Malawi in their opening game and against Cameroon.

They also lost 2-1 to South Africa in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup play-offs. Two wins over Comoros in the 2028 Olympic qualifiers were not enough to offset those results.

Nigeria still lead the continent. South Africa are next at 59th in the world, followed by Cameroon at 62nd and Morocco at 64th.

Malawi, who beat Nigeria at WAFCON, climbed 49 places, the biggest rise of any team in the update. Readers new to betting can read Bet9ja promotion code basics.

At the top, nothing changed. Spain stay first, ahead of the United States, Germany, England and Japan.

A drop like this hurts, but it’s a ranking, and rankings move. The next update is due on Monday, December 7, 2026, so the Falcons have a chance to recover if their results improve.
