Boston Legacy FC have officially unveiled Super Falcons striker Gift Monday after her move from fellow National Women’s Soccer League side Washington Spirit. The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract that runs to December 2030 and will wear the number 22 shirt.

Boston agreed the trade with Washington earlier this month. The Spirit receive US$500,000 in transfer threshold funds, plus a 20 per cent sell-on clause if Monday is moved on again. Fans of Nigerian players abroad can read Bet9ja promo code facts for new users.

Monday joined Washington Spirit from Spain’s UD Tenerife in March 2025 and quickly became one of the NWSL’s most dangerous attackers. In September 2025, she scored a hat-trick against Houston Dash in 35 minutes and 52 seconds, a league record for the fastest hat-trick from kickoff.

She scored 12 goals and provided three assists in 48 appearances across all competitions for the Spirit. She also scored two playoff goals at Audi Field as Washington reached last season’s NWSL Championship game.

Boston Legacy are in their first season in the NWSL, and general manager Domè Guasch said Monday adds another dimension to their attack. He also called her a team player, which he said matters as much as her quality. New Bet9ja users can claim the YOHAIG Bet9ja promo.

This season has been quieter for Monday, who had one goal and one assist in 18 appearances for Washington before the move. A fresh start in Boston could be exactly what she needs.

Before moving abroad, Monday played for several Nigerian clubs, including COD United Amazons, FC Robo and Bayelsa Queens. She made her Super Falcons debut in 2019 and was in Nigeria’s squad at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

Her path from the Nigerian league to the NWSL is a good example for young players at home. It shows what’s possible when talent gets a platform in Europe and then in the United States.
