Nigeria’s Flamingos secured a 4-2 win over Ghana’s Black Maidens on Friday night to claim their second victory of the WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup.
A Two-Goal Cushion Before The Break
Akeem Busari’s side took control early, scoring twice in the first half through Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and captain Chidi Harmony to head into the interval firmly in charge.
A Red Card Sparks A Ghanaian Rally
Nigeria were reduced to ten players shortly before the hour mark when Elizabeth Adesuyi was shown a red card. Ghana capitalised quickly, with Seidatu Wahab pulling a goal back four minutes later to set up a tense finish.
Dunstan And Akanji Seal The Win
The Flamingos responded well to the setback, restoring their two goal advantage when Mary Dunstan pounced on a defensive error to make it 3-1. Kaosarat Akanji added a fourth three minutes from time before Gloria Ameaa netted Ghana’s second goal on the stroke of 90 minutes. Despite playing the closing stages a player down, Nigeria held on to secure the 4-2 win.
