Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem is on the verge of completing a move to Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor, ending a single season spell at French club Nantes.

According to reports, Awaziem has agreed to a two-year contract with Konyaspor, with the deal including an option to extend his stay by a further year. The Turkish club are expected to pay around €1 million to Nantes to secure his signature.

Awaziem joined Nantes from Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids last summer but is now set to depart after just one season, following the Canaries’ relegation from Ligue 1 after a 17th place finish. He made 26 league appearances for the eight time French champions, contributing one goal and two assists.

A move to Konyaspor would mark a return to Turkish football for the 28 year old, who has previously featured for Caykur Rizespor and Alanyaspor, establishing himself as one of the league’s more dependable defenders during those spells.

Konyaspor had a respectable 2025/26 campaign, finishing eighth in the Turkish Super Lig and reaching the Turkish Cup final, where they were beaten by Trabzonspor.
