Samuel Chukwueze produced a standout cameo as AC Milan fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Celtic in their opening pre-season fixture on Saturday.

Chukwueze was named among the substitutes and came on before the start of the second half with Milan trailing following two first-half Celtic goals. With the score level at 2-2, the Super Eagles winger provided the assist for the equaliser, whipping in a cross with the outside of his left foot that was headed home.

Italian outlet Sempre Milan awarded Chukwueze a 7.5 rating for his performance, making him one of only two players on the pitch to receive such a mark. The publication praised his constant threat to the Celtic defence and singled out his cross for the equaliser as a highlight of the match.

The performance comes after AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim confirmed Chukwueze will remain at the club for the 2026/27 season, ending speculation over his future. Amorim explained that before looking to bring in outside reinforcements, he wants to properly assess the players already in his squad, and said he believes Chukwueze has the qualities and versatility to fit into his system.

Chukwueze spent last season on loan at Fulham, where he contributed three goals and four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions. Fulham ultimately opted against making the move permanent after Milan held firm on their €24 million valuation of the 27 year old, who joined the Rossoneri from Villarreal in 2023.
