Eguma Seeks Healing Victory for Enyimba Following Mother’s Death

Stanley Eguma, Enyimba’s head coach, has made it clear that Sunday’s NPFL Matchday 5 fixture against Bendel Insurance holds special significance for him. Eguma is hoping a strong performance and victory will bring solace after the loss of his mother on Wednesday, 17 September 2025.

Speaking from Port Harcourt, where he is currently, Eguma described his late mother, Mrs. Ruth Eguma, as “something truly ‘special’” whose prayers and support had constantly buoyed him through many trials. She passed away at the age of over 90, after a period of illness.

Despite his grief, Eguma says he will return to the touchline for the game in Aba and wants his players to not only win, but to dedicate the victory to his mother’s memory. He admitted no date has yet been fixed for the burial, but emphasised how much her maternal love has meant to him throughout his life and career.
