Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu has donated more than 50 football boots along with several bags of jerseys and equipment to Young Stars FC of Satellite Town, Lagos, the club where he played as a child.

The donation, delivered by truck, also included training shorts, vests, footballs, shin guards, and bibs, with Onuachu noting he still carries memories of playing for the club during his childhood in the Ojo area of Lagos.

Speaking on behalf of the club, whose founder and head coach Osahon Emokpae recently died, assistant coach Hyginus Okoye expressed appreciation for the gesture. Onuachu is separately funding the construction of a hospital in his hometown in Imo State.

The donation follows an earlier gesture this year in which Onuachu, who was raised in the Ojo-Alaba area of Lagos, provided a 45KVA electricity transformer to Umuota Agbaghara Nsu village in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area, Imo State. Speaking to The Punch newspaper about that project, he said the lack of electricity in his village during past Yuletide visits had motivated him to help, adding that his community no longer has to rely on generators or travel to charge phones.

Onuachu also reportedly covered more than N5 million in hospital bills for the late coach Osahon before his death and had previously bought him a car, a detail that pushes back on earlier claims circulating that the striker had not done enough to support his former coach. He is additionally funding a homecoming youth football competition featuring his boyhood club, to be held at Saint Michael School in Ojo, Lagos.

The 32 year old striker began his career at Young Stars before moving to FC Ebedie of Sagamu, and later played for Midtjylland and Vejle in Denmark, RKC Genk in Belgium, and Southampton in England before joining Trabzonspor.
