Nigeria’s Falconets have opened their training camp in Abuja as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
A total of 28 players have been invited for the buildup, with 16 already in camp as head coach Moses Aduku’s technical team gets to work on fine tuning the squad ahead of the tournament.
The Falconets secured their place at the World Cup through an impressive qualifying campaign, thrashing Rwanda 5-0 on aggregate in the second round before edging Senegal 3-2 on aggregate in the penultimate stage. They sealed qualification with a 3-2 aggregate win over Malawi in the final round, extending Nigeria’s record as the only African nation to qualify for every edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup since the competition began in 2002.
Nigeria remain one of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history, having finished runners up in 2010 and 2014, and reaching the semi finals in 2012. At the last edition in Colombia in 2024, the Falconets opened with a 1-0 win over Korea Republic before advancing to the Round of 16, where they were eliminated by Japan.
This year, Nigeria have been drawn in Group F alongside Spain, China PR, and Paraguay. The tournament runs in Poland from September 5 to 27, 2026.
