Official: Otomewo Completes Move to Stade de Reims

Stade de Reims have officially confirmed the signing of Nigerian midfielder John Otomewo from Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem, with the 19-year-old putting pen to paper on a contract running until 2031.
The defensive midfielder will have a familiar face to lean on as he settles in, with fellow Nigerian Hafiz Ibrahim already at the Ligue 2 club and expected to help ease his integration into the squad.
Speaking after the move was confirmed, Otomewo told the club’s official website he was very happy to join Stade de Reims, adding that he hopes the move will let him progress in the best conditions while helping the club achieve its goals this season.
Otomewo’s path to France has been rapid. He started his career at Nigerian second-division club Abia Comets before joining NPFL side Gombe United in 2025, where his performances earned him a move to Hapoel Jerusalem. He quickly made an impact in Israel, starting more than 90 percent of his side’s matches since joining the club, form that helped make him the subject of a reported €1.6 million transfer to Reims, a deal that became the biggest sale in Hapoel Jerusalem’s history.
