Matchday 2 of the 2026 NWFL Nationwide Championship produced 10 goals across four fixtures in Aba, Abia State, as the race for promotion to the 2027 NWFL Championship intensified.

Ubakala Babes Run Riot

The day’s most dramatic result came in Group C, where Ubakala Babes dismantled NAF Queens 6-1. NAF Queens had taken an early lead through Eigbe-Peter Favour in the 16th minute, but Ubakala Babes responded with a ruthless attacking display. Uchenna Obinna struck twice inside the opening 20 minutes, Ogolo Blessing added a third soon after, and Chidimma Augustine completed her own brace either side of a Monday Favour goal to seal the rout.

Lakeside Queens Strengthen Promotion Push

In Group B, Lakeside Queens delivered one of the standout performances of the day, beating Bayelsa Princesses 3-0. Farida Olawumi scored twice either side of half time before Chioma Dickson completed the win with a second-half strike, a result that strengthens the Ogun State side’s push for a place in the NWFL Championship.

Stalemates In Groups A And D

Elsewhere, both remaining fixtures ended goalless. Spunky Blazers FA and Kwara United Ladies shared the points in a tightly contested Group A tie, while Obosa FA and Osklean Queens could not find a breakthrough in Group D, leaving both groups delicately poised heading into the final round.

Group Result
A Spunky Blazers FA 0-0 Kwara United Ladies
B Lakeside Queens 3-0 Bayelsa Princesses
C Ubakala Babes 6-1 NAF Queens
D Obosa FA 0-0 Osklean Queens

Every Point Now Counts

With the group stages approaching their decisive final round, every result has become increasingly valuable as clubs battle for semi final places and, ultimately, one of the two automatic promotion tickets to the 2027 NWFL Championship.
