Tosan Blankson has stepped down as head coach of Rivers Angels after two seasons in charge, bringing an end to a spell that delivered multiple trophies for the Port Harcourt side. Blankson is understood to have left along with his backroom staff. During his two years with Rivers Angels, he guided the club to two Rivers State Women FA Cup titles, a President Federation Cup triumph in 2025, and two qualifications for the NWFL Super Six playoffs.
Speaking to Complete Sports, the former left-back, who played for Rangers International and Iwuanyanwu Nationale, now Heartland FC, during his playing days, said he was grateful for his time at the club and wished the team and his eventual successor continued success.
A Trophy-Laden Two-Year Spell
The 2025 President Federation Cup success stood out as a career highlight. Rivers Angels came from two goals down to draw level before edging Nasarawa Amazons on penalties, a result that handed the club a 10th Federation Cup title in its history.
Blankson’s coaching résumé already carried an NWFL league title before he arrived in Port Harcourt, having led Delta Queens to the championship in 2023 prior to his move to Rivers Angels.
Next Move Still Undecided
Asked about reports linking him with Edo Queens ahead of the 2026/27 season, Blankson did not rule it out but said nothing had been finalised, adding that he intends to rest before committing to his next role.
