Former Kwara United coach Samson Unuanel has moved to calm growing concerns over Enyimba’s difficult start to the 2026/27 NPFL season, insisting the nine time champions will not be dragged into a relegation battle.
A Winless Start Leaves Enyimba 18th
Enyimba have picked up zero points from their opening two matches, losing 2-1 to Niger Tornadoes before falling 2-0 to newly promoted Doma United, scoring just once in the process. The results have left the Aba side sitting uncharacteristically low in 18th place on the log.
Unuanel Urges Calm
Speaking to Completesports.com, Unuanel said it is too early to read too much into Enyimba’s league position, insisting the squad has enough quality to turn their season around and stay well clear of the drop zone. He said, “The season is still early,” and argued that a single positive result could be enough to lift the team’s morale and change the entire dynamic of their campaign.
