Enyimba assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu says the team has returned to its best form after a 2-0 home win over 10 man Plateau United on Sunday, October 4. The win at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba was the nine-time champions’ second in a row.
Ifeanyi Ihemekwele opened the scoring shortly before the half hour mark, and Richard Ezinwa doubled the lead in the 66th minute. Plateau finished the game with ten men.
What Ukaegbu Said
Ukaegbu told journalists after the game that Enyimba have “returned to our best form.” He said the success has been built on consistency and on the players’ commitment to working as one unit.
He added that the players now understand the expectations the coaches have set, and that this explains the resurgence. He said the People’s Elephant have regained the competitive edge that has defined the club in recent years. New bettors following Enyimba can read the Bet9ja promo code quick guide.
The Table and the Timing
The result extended Enyimba’s unbeaten run to three league games after a 0-0 draw at Kano Pillars and a 4-2 win over Shooting Stars. It lifted them out of the relegation zone.
Enyimba had one point from their first five games, so the turnaround is sharp. They now have seven points from seven games.
The win came a day after assistant coach Kelvin Ejeh resigned, citing irreconcilable differences with Emmanuel Deutsch. Fans following the club’s turnaround can check YOHAIG’s Bet9ja starting offer.
