Another goalless night in Ibadan
Shooting Stars and Kano Pillars shared a 0-0 draw at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Wednesday, October 7. The rescheduled Matchday 3 game of the EuroMatch NPFL produced little attacking reward. FootballInNigeria.com.ng reports that the hosts again failed to make home advantage count.
It was the second straight goalless draw for Shooting Stars at home, after a 0-0 stalemate against Nasarawa United on Matchday 7. Despite the backing of their supporters, the Oluyole Warriors struggled to find a breakthrough against a Pillars side that defended resolutely.
Salisu Yusuf’s frustration
Head coach Salisu Yusuf will be frustrated, particularly because he was facing his former side. Shooting Stars had possession and home advantage but could not turn them into the three points they badly need.
The Oluyole Warriors must convert home performances into wins if they want to climb away from the lower end of the table. Two blanks in a row at the Lekan Salami Stadium is a worrying pattern for a team that wants to move up.
NPFL fans who like to predict results can play Super9ja on Bet9ja before the next round of fixtures. Low-scoring games like this one show why forecasting the league is never easy.
Pillars: a point, but still no win
Kano Pillars returned to Kano with a point from Ibadan. The Sai Masu Gida had also drawn 1-1 at home against Sporting Lagos in their previous league outing, so they remain without a win in their recent run.
The result still carries some weight. A Complete Sports headline before the game said Pillars were targeting their first point away to 3SC in nine years, so a draw will feel like progress for them.
