The officials for Friday

CAF has appointed a team of Rwandan officials for the first leg of the 2028 Olympic Games qualifier between Comoros and the Super Falcons. Henriette Byukusenge will be the centre referee. FootballInNigeria.com.ng reports that Sandrine Murangwa and Regine Mukayiranga will be her first and second assistants.

Aline Umutoni, also from Rwanda, will serve as fourth official. Fransiska Katjaimo of Namibia is the referee assessor, and Oumou Sy of Burkina Faso is the match commissioner.

Venue and kick-off

The first leg takes place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo on Friday, October 9, with kick off at 6pm. The return fixture will be played at the same venue next Tuesday, October 13. Comoros was meant to host the first leg, but the island nation has no CAF-approved venue for international games.

Neutral officials are standard in CAF qualifiers, and both teams will want a calm, fair game. Supporters wanting more offers before kick-off can check Bet9ja’s full promotion details.

The task in Ikenne

Comoros reached this round by beating Sudan 30-0 on aggregate. Nigeria, as one of the three highest ranked teams in the competition, received a bye into the second round.

Augustine Eguavoen is in interim charge after the NFF sacked Justine Madugu, following Nigeria’s failure to qualify for next year’s Women’s World Cup. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and defender Michelle Alozie are among the 22 players in camp in Ijebu Ode.

What comes next

Victory over Comoros would send the Falcons to the third round, between February 23 and March 6, 2027, against either DR Congo or Morocco. Africa has two places at Los Angeles 2028, and there are four rounds to get through.

The later rounds are a long way off. For now, Eguavoen needs a clean first leg performance in front of the Rwandan referee.
