Shooting Stars Sports Club, one of Nigeria’s two representatives in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup, have received a financial incentive to attack Tunisian side CS Sfaxien in Saturday’s first leg preliminary round clash.
Isaac Olawale Ifadare Ayangbile, Vice Chairman of the Oyo State Football Association, has promised the Oluyole Warriors N10,000 for every goal scored in the fixture, set for 4pm at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
“Every Goal Counts”
Ayangbile said the gesture was meant to inspire the players to give their best and secure a convincing result heading into the return leg in Tunis the following week.
A Return To The Continental Stage After 27 Years
Shooting Stars last represented Nigeria in continental competition in 1999, when they reached the CAF Champions League mini-league group stage alongside Morocco’s Raja Club Athletic, Egypt’s Al Ahly and Ghana’s Accra Hearts of Oak. They finished bottom of that group with four points, missing out on the knockout phase. Twenty-seven years on, the Ibadan club is back on the continental stage, with Saturday’s opener against CS Sfaxien marking the first step of that return.
