Plateau United head coach Gbenga Ogunbote says his side remains a work in progress despite bouncing back from an opening-day 2-0 defeat to Rivers United with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kwara United at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.
Aghahowa’s Header Settles It
Alex Aghahowa scored the only goal of the game, rising well to head home in the 29th minute. Kwara United pushed for an equaliser after the break, but Plateau United held on to secure their first three points of the season.
Ogunbote Tempers The Celebration
Speaking after the game, Ogunbote acknowledged the pressure of playing a first home match after an away defeat, and in front of club dignitaries. He said the win mattered most and had come without controversy, but stressed that the team is still very much a work in progress.
He pointed out that around seven new players featured in the squad, and that the understanding between them would keep building as more matches are played. While pleased with the result, he admitted the performance had not yet reached the level he wants, adding that he expects the team to get there sooner than people might think.

Ogunbote also thanked the Jos faithful for their support, encouraging them to keep believing in the team and promising they would have reason to be proud by the end of the season.
