Kano Pillars survived a spirited fightback from Niger Tornadoes to win 3-2 in a five goal thriller at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday, while Plateau United and Nasarawa United picked up narrow home wins elsewhere on matchday two.

Kano Pillars Hold On For The Points

The hosts raced into control in the first half through goals from Ubong Friday and Fabian Nworie, before Nworie added his second nine minutes into the second half to make it 3-0. Niger Tornadoes responded with goals from Godfrey Joseph and Wasiu Jimoh to set up a tense finish, but Kano Pillars held firm to claim all three points.

Plateau United Get Off The Mark

At the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United recorded their first win of the season, edging Kwara United 1-0 thanks to a 29th minute goal from Alex Aghahowa.

Nasarawa United Edge Bendel Insurance

In Lafia, Nasarawa United also won 1-0, with Sam Pam scoring the only goal of the game in the 55th minute against Bendel Insurance. Elsewhere, Kun Khalifat FC and Barau FC played out a goalless draw at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
