El-Kanemi Warriors made a strong statement in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round tie, beating Guinea-Bissau’s UDIB 3-0 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.
Mejuobi Brace Sets Up Comfortable Win
Both sides had chances in a goalless first half before El-Kanemi Warriors broke through in the 52nd minute, Nnamdi Mejuobi opening the scoring. He doubled his tally four minutes later, converting confidently from the penalty spot to put the hosts firmly in charge.
Dayo Wahab added a third with two minutes to go, rounding off a commanding 3-0 win for the Nigerian side.
Strong Position Ahead Of Second Leg
The result leaves El-Kanemi Warriors well placed to advance to the second preliminary round of the competition when the return leg is played next weekend.
