Venezia’s pursuit of Sevilla striker Akor Adams is entering its final stretch, with sporting director Filippo Antonelli confirming the transfer is close to being finalised.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported over the weekend that Venezia and Sevilla have reached an agreement on a deal worth around 16 million euros for the Nigeria international, a figure that would eclipse the club’s previous transfer record.

Speaking to reporters as quoted by Football Italia, Antonelli acknowledged the deal was close but said a handful of details still needed to be ironed out before it could be signed off, adding simply, “I promise that I will tell you everything once it is all closed.”

Adams joined Sevilla from French side Montpellier in January 2025 for a fee of around 5.5 million euros, meaning a 16 million euro exit would represent a significant profit for the Spanish club. He went on to finish as Sevilla’s leading scorer last season, registering 10 goals and three assists in 32 La Liga appearances.

Venezia, who won last season’s Serie B title to secure an immediate return to Serie A, have already been active in the transfer market this summer, bringing in Albion Rrahmani from Sparta Prague, Armel Bella Kotchap from Hellas Verona, and Ale Gomes from Real Zaragoza, alongside free-agent signings Toma Basic and Thierry Correia.
