Sporting Lagos technical adviser Jeffery Buter says his side are determined to build on their first win of the season when they travel to face Abia Warriors in a matchday four clash at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan on Sunday.
A Statement Win Over Inter Lagos
The Lagos-based club picked up their first victory of the campaign with an impressive 3-0 win over Inter Lagos in last weekend’s revived Lagos derby, a result that lifted spirits around the club after a slow start to the season.
Buter Wants Consistency, Not Complacency
Speaking to the club’s media, Buter stressed the importance of maintaining that level of performance while approaching each fixture individually rather than looking too far ahead. He said, “We have to take it one game at a time,” making clear that while the derby win mattered, the team’s focus has already shifted fully to Abia Warriors.
Buter also flagged a demanding run coming up, with Sporting Lagos set to play four matches in ten days as the month progresses, and said the squad is prepared for the challenge.
Climbing The Table
Sporting Lagos currently sit 10th in the NPFL table with three points from two matches, and a positive result against Abia Warriors would go some way to building further momentum as the early rounds of the season continue.
