AC Milan have stepped up their interest in Granada winger Owen Emeka, a 17-year-old Spaniard of Nigerian descent, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. Real Madrid are also following the teenager, and there are no talks yet.
A Milan scout went to Granada’s 1-1 draw with Albacete on September 12 to watch 19 year old midfielder Dylan Rodriguez, who stayed on the bench all game. Emeka scored the goal that caught the scout’s attention.
The Goal That Caught Milan’s Eye
Emeka stopped the ball, shielded it with his body, beat two opponents and fired into the near post. He was 17 years, four months and 23 days old, which makes him the second youngest goalscorer in Granada’s history.
Shortly afterwards he hit the crossbar against Leganés. Emeka has one goal in six Segunda División games this season, three of them starts. Bettors following European transfers can read Bet9ja’s promo code breakdown.
Contract and Release Clause
Granada gave him a contract extension in April, and it now runs until 2031. His release clause is €15 million, about £13 million or $17 million.
Transfermarkt values him at €1 million, so the clause is a big multiple of his listed value. Milan reportedly view it as an opportunity, and La Gazzetta says the Rossoneri would likely place him in their reserve setup at first.
Real Madrid and Spain
Real Madrid are monitoring him, and Milan face a tight timetable if they want to move first. Reports say Milan believe activating the release clause is the only way to get ahead of Madrid. Fans following Nigerian-descent talents can check Bet9ja’s YOHAIG sign-up offer before the weekend.
Emeka came through Granada’s academy, and his impressive displays for the youth side last season convinced the club he was ready for the first team.
Granada sit 13th in the Segunda División under coach Pacheta, and Emeka could feature when they face Real Sociedad B in round eight.
Emeka has been called up by Spain’s youth side, who are preparing for the World Cup in Qatar in November. Which club will move first? Readers can learn how Bet9ja bonus conversion works while they wait.
