Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas have turned down a €7 million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Diriyah for Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi, according to Turkish newspaper Milliyet.
The Black Eagles are said to value the experienced midfielder at closer to €10 million and are unwilling to sanction his departure unless that asking price is met. Ndidi has been strongly linked with a move away from Besiktas in recent weeks, with clubs from both Saudi Arabia and Europe reported to be monitoring his situation ahead of the new season.
Ndidi joined the Istanbul giants from Leicester City last summer and quickly established himself as a key figure in central midfield, going on to be appointed the club’s vice-captain. Despite battling injuries throughout the campaign, the former Genk midfielder contributed two goals and one assist in 31 appearances across all competitions, while also standing out for his ball-winning ability, composure in possession, and leadership.
The 29 year old has two years remaining on his current Besiktas contract, a factor that leaves the Turkish club in a strong negotiating position as suitors continue to circle.
