Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has appointed Bright Ozebagbe and Deniran Ortega as his two assistant coaches for the Olympic Eagles.
The appointments were disclosed by Kola Daniel, Special Assistant on Media in the Office of the Director General at the National Sports Commission. Chelle, who doubles as head coach of the Olympic Eagles alongside his Super Eagles role, described the duo as two of the brightest young coaches in Nigeria with impressive profiles, and said he was pleased to be working with them.
Two Coaches With Contrasting Backgrounds
Ozebagbe currently serves as technical adviser of Ikorodu City, who narrowly missed out on continental qualification on the final day of last season. Ortega, a UEFA-licensed coach trained by the Scottish Football Association, is currently an assistant coach with Nigeria’s Flying Eagles.
Building Toward Qualifiers And Beyond
Chelle has already briefed National Sports Commission leadership on his plans and preparations to secure Olympic qualification, with camping set to open soon in Abuja ahead of the team’s qualifiers in November 2026. Nigeria’s men’s and women’s Olympic football teams remain under NSC supervision, with the commission targeting not just qualification but a podium finish at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
