Nigerian football supporters clubs have commended the National Sports Commission and President Bola Tinubu for the reforms currently underway in the country’s football administration.
A Joint Statement From Five Major Groups
The commendation came in a joint statement from five prominent supporters clubs: the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, the Super Eagles Supporters Club, the Football Fans Club of Nigeria, the All Sports Supporters Club, and the Nigeria Eagles Supporters Club. The statement was issued at the National Stadium in Lagos by the groups’ presidents, Vincent Okumagba, Rev. Samuel Ikpea, Kemi Ogunfuwa, Johnson Dagana and Sunny Gukong.
A Reform Process Backed By FIFA And CAF
The commendation follows President Tinubu’s directive for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigerian football governance, a move that has also drawn support from international bodies including FIFA and CAF.

The supporters clubs stated, “We sincerely appreciate the laudable ongoing reform in Nigeria football administration,” while insisting that any reform process needs to be broad based, consultative, and inclusive of all recognised stakeholders, supporters clubs among them. They called on all parties involved to embrace the changes taking place.
