Greenlock FC’s newest head coach, AbdulFatai Omotanwa Abdulwahab, has made his intentions clear at the club: he says he has arrived to leave a legacy, not just fill a vacancy.
Abdulwahab joins fresh from coaching Jeunesse Athletique de Ketou FC in the Benin Republic’s premier division, and brings years of experience across Nigeria, South Africa, and Namibia. He described the move as another opportunity to prove himself after his spell with a premier division side abroad.
The coach has previously managed clubs including Imperial FC, Shola FC, and Oluyole United, and served as technical director at Zion International FAI FC and M&N Football Club. His résumé includes leading Imperial FC to the Nigeria Nationwide League One Division Two title, and helping Oluyole United finish as runners-up during his time as assistant coach.
In comments already generating excitement among supporters, Abdulwahab framed his approach as one of commitment over convenience, saying he intends to work for the club rather than simply at it. He added that he wants to be remembered as more than another name on Greenlock’s list of former coaches, saying, “I came to make history.”
Standing at 1.90 metres, Abdulwahab holds a CAF B License, an FCAAN-D Diploma, and a UEFA C Level 1 certification from Wales. Greenlock FC’s decision to appoint him signals ambition to compete at a higher level, with preparations now underway to translate that intent into results on the pitch.
