Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke scored as Sevilla beat 10 man Athletic Bilbao 3-1 in their La Liga clash on Saturday.
Athletic Bilbao were reduced to ten men inside the opening quarter of an hour when Yuri Berchiche was shown a straight red card. Sevilla capitalised almost immediately, with Oso opening the scoring four minutes later.
An Impactful Introduction
Ejuke was brought on at half-time in place of Miguel Angel Sierra and made his mark quickly, doubling Sevilla’s lead in the 50th minute with a finish from an Isaac Romero pass. Romero added a third seven minutes later before Athletic Bilbao pulled one back through Aitor Paredes in the 70th minute. Sevilla held on comfortably to secure the win.

The goal comes as a pointed answer to recent uncertainty over Ejuke’s Sevilla future, after he was left out of the club’s pre-season trips to the Netherlands and Germany amid transfer speculation. Sevilla have been under pressure to sell this summer to raise funds, but Ejuke’s involvement and goal here suggest he remains firmly part of the squad’s plans for now.
Sevilla will host Atletico Madrid in their next league fixture, while Athletic Bilbao travel to face Barcelona.
