Bendel Insurance technical adviser Kennedy Boboye is confident his team can secure maximum points when they host Rivers United in their Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 10 game. The Benin Arsenals welcome the league leaders to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Sunday, October 25, with kickoff at 4pm.
Rivers United are the only team yet to suffer defeat in the NPFL this season. They are top on 17 points from nine games, with four wins and five draws, and a goal difference of plus 11. New Bet9ja users can claim the YOHAIG Bet9ja opening bonus.
Bendel Insurance sit 10th on 12 points from eight games, with four wins and four defeats. They also have a game in hand, since their Matchday 9 meeting with Rangers International was postponed.
Previous meetings between the sides have been close, often ending in draws or narrow wins. Their first meeting in Benin last season ended 0-0.
Boboye said Bendel Insurance respect Rivers United but will not be intimidated. “They can’t intimidate us at our fortress,” he said. He added that this time Rivers will not go back with any point.
He admitted the team have some injury concerns, but said everyone is good to go. NPFL fans can try the Super9ja score predictor alongside Matchday 10.
Rivers United have conceded only twice in nine games, while scoring 13 goals.
Rivers’ strength is defensive, as their assistant coach Yemi Olanrewaju stressed this week when he said the key is not conceding. Bendel Insurance’s own goalscoring, 14 goals in eight games, could test that.
Bendel Insurance finished fifth last season with 56 points, while Rivers United were second on 67.
