Monday on the move

Super Falcons striker Gift Monday has completed a permanent move to Boston Legacy FC from Washington Spirit in a deal worth $500,000. The 24 year old Nigerian forward made 48 regular-season appearances for the Spirit, scoring 12 goals and adding three assists. FootballInNigeria.com.ng reports that the transfer was confirmed while Monday is on international duty with Nigeria.

Monday made history in September 2025 by scoring the fastest hat-trick from kick-off in NWSL history. She netted three times in 35 minutes and 52 seconds against the Houston Dash.

She told Boston Legacy’s website that she was “very happy and honored” to officially join the club.

What Boston expect

General manager Domè Guasch said Monday brings a unique set of qualities as a forward and will add another dimension to the attack. He expects her to contribute to the high press, create chances and be dangerous in the final third.

Guasch also stressed that she is a team player, which matters to the club as much as her quality on the pitch.

The move marks a new chapter for the forward. Supporters following Monday’s progress can look at Bet9ja’s promotion code overview this weekend.

From Lagos to Washington to Boston

Monday began her professional career in Nigeria with FC Robo and COD United Amazons. She then moved to Spain and spent two and a half years at UD Tenerife, making more than 65 appearances and recording 26 goal contributions.

Washington Spirit signed her from Tenerife in March 2025, with the Spanish club reportedly receiving around €300,000. She helped the Spirit reach the 2025 NWSL Championship match.

She scored six goals in combination with teammate Rosemonde Kouassi in 2025. Readers wanting a bigger welcome offer can check the YOHAIG welcome deal before the next Falcons game.

Back to Falcons duty

Monday is with the Super Falcons in Ijebu-Ode for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifier against Comoros. She made her senior debut for Nigeria in 2019 and was part of the 23 player squad at the 2023 World Cup.

The first leg is on Friday, October 9, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, with the return leg on October 13. Can she start the Boston chapter with goals for Nigeria? That is the question for Eguavoen’s side.
