Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare has been shortlisted for Ajax’s Goal of the Month award, recognised for his impressive finish in the club’s UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Sion.
A Brace That Caught The Eye
Arokodare found the net five minutes into the second half to complete a brace and cap an eye catching individual performance against Sion. The goal helped cement a productive month for the forward, who scored four times in all for the Eredivisie giants during that stretch.
Stiff Competition For The Award
Arokodare faces competition from several teammates for the monthly honour, with Pharrell Nash, Anton Gaaei, Abdellah Ouazane and Julian Brandt among those also nominated. Davy Klaassen, Oliver Edvardsen, Emre Unuvar, Diego Pugno and Isa Benyahia round out the shortlist.
A Breakout Loan Spell
The 25 year old joined Ajax on a season-long loan from Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers and has quickly become a key figure in the team’s attack, continuing to build his reputation as one of the more effective strikers to have arrived in the Eredivisie this season.
