Doma United continued their strong start to the 2026/27 NPFL season with a 1-0 win over Inter Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday, and technical adviser Ayeni Alexander says the character his players showed was the key to the result.
Rilwan’s Header Settles It
Sadiq Rilwan was the match-winner, rising to head home in the 71st minute past Inter Lagos goalkeeper Bala Favour for his second goal of the season. The win made it back to back victories over Lagos based opposition for the Gombe side, following an opening day 2-0 win over Sporting Lagos.
Alexander Praises His Players’ Response
Speaking after the game in an interview posted on Doma United’s official X account, Alexander said the mood in camp was good, and that beyond the tactics and formation, it came down to how ready all 11 players on the pitch were. He praised their courage, resilience, sharpness and composure both on and off the ball, describing it as a good overall performance.
Enyimba Test Next
Doma United will look to build on the result when they return to the Pantami Stadium in Gombe to host Enyimba on Saturday, September 12.
