The Confederation of African Football has unveiled its Best XI for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and for the first time in years, no Super Falcons player has been included, Complete Sports reports.
Nigeria’s absence from the selection follows a difficult campaign that ended at the quarter-final stage, where the Super Falcons lost 1-0 to eventual champions Cameroon. It marked the first time the ten time African champions failed to reach the semi finals of the tournament.
Cameroon Dominate The Selection
Cameroon led the Best XI with four representatives following their title-winning run: goalkeeper Michaely Bihina, alongside Myrian Myadjou, Monique Ngock and Marie Ngah. Runners-up Malawi placed two players in the team, sisters Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga, whose form powered the Scorchers to an unlikely final in their tournament debut.
Hosts Morocco and Algeria each had two representatives as well, with Mohaila Benzina and Hanane Ait El Haj making the cut for Morocco, and Ines Belloumou and Marine Dafeur for Algeria. Zambian striker Barbara Banda completed the line up.
