Brown Ideye has moved on from Enyimba’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. The Nigerian champions were defeated 3-1 by Zamalek in their final Group D match, marking their third loss in six games and leaving them third in the group.
Ideye, who played in the match, reflected on the outcome with a hopeful message on X formerly Twitter, writing: “Unto the next one…”
Enyimba entered the match needing a win while hoping Al Masry would fail to beat Black Bulls Maputo. However, goals from Zamalek’s Mostafa Shalaby and Seifeddine Jaziri put Enyimba on the back foot. Ifeanyi Ihemekwele pulled a goal back in the 57th minute, but Jaziri sealed Zamalek’s win with his second goal in the 87th minute.
Zamalek and Al Masry progressed to the quarter-finals with 14 and 9 points, respectively, while Enyimba and Black Bulls Maputo were eliminated.
