The Super Falcons’ training camp in Casablanca received another boost on Tuesday with the arrival of forward Folashade Ijamilusi, taking the number of players at the team’s Hotel Marriott base to 23.

Ijamilusi, who plays for Chinese club Liaoning Shenyang Shenbei Hefeng, landed in Casablanca on Tuesday afternoon to join Justine Madugu’s squad ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The former Nigeria youth international was one of the standout performers during Nigeria’s title-winning campaign at the last WAFCON, scoring twice, including the crucial equaliser in Nigeria’s dramatic 3-2 comeback win over hosts Morocco in the final.

Meanwhile, the arrivals of midfielder Deborah Abiodun and forward Gift Monday have been delayed after their scheduled flight from the United States was cancelled due to technical issues. Both players had already reached the airport before learning the flight would not depart. The Nigeria Football Federation has since secured new tickets for the pair, who are expected to join the squad as soon as possible.

The defending champions have continued preparations at the La Noria Club in Casablanca before relocating to Morocco’s administrative capital, Rabat, where all their Group C matches will be played. Nigeria open the defence of their title against Malawi next Tuesday, before facing Zambia and Egypt in the remaining group fixtures.

Ahead of the tournament, the Super Falcons will attend the official team arrival meeting with representatives of the Confederation of African Football and the Local Organising Committee on Saturday, July 25.
