Rivers United have completed the signing of left back Imoh Obot from fellow NPFL club Abia Warriors, bolstering the Port Harcourt side’s squad ahead of the 2026/27 season and a return to the CAF Champions League.
The move reunites Obot with Rivers United head coach Finidi George, under whom he won the NPFL title during the 2022/23 season while at Enyimba. His arrival is expected to add experience, quality, and depth to a Rivers United defence preparing to compete on both domestic and continental fronts.
Before joining Abia Warriors, Obot spent time at Enyimba, where he established himself as one of the league’s more dependable defenders and helped the club win a record ninth NPFL title in 2023.
The former Nigeria home-based Super Eagles defender has already begun training with his new Rivers United teammates and is awaiting his official unveiling by the club. His experience is expected to be a significant boost as the Pride of Rivers push for success in both the NPFL and CAF Champions League this season.
